A view words from Ursula

I am a born dreamer, seeing finished jewelry creations in of all sort ordinary things, during my early Childhood in my Home country Germany, I started making Jewelry out of anything I could lay hands on, Daisies, Chestnuts , Noodles, Paper and lots more.I remember painfully my first meeting with a fiber glass cloth that my father had brought home, the feeling of hundreds of needles all over my hand lasted for many days, but it was worth it. During my early twenties I started designing and creating jewelry and gifts on a more serious level, creating pieces for my friends and family.

My creativity came to full bloom in my new home Grenada; this beautiful Island offers endless inspiration for my designs, on walks along the white and black sandy beaches, rivers and through the Rain forest. It is here where I find most of the materials for my crafts.

Many of my pieces are created with wire which is the only known metal jewelry craft that is created completely without soldering or casting. Soldering or casting is a technique that uses heat by flame or torch to melt the metal together.Creating Wire Jewelry is more of a challenge as the wires are connected only by twisting and bending using only the skill of your hands and basic tools of pliers, wire cutters and ruler.

The wire I use in designing my jewelry is made from many different alloys such as gold, sterling silver, brass, and copper. Its strength can be soft, medium, or hard. Hard wire which I use mostly in making bracelets, while soft wire is used in sculpting designs and allows me to twisted the wire more easily. I love to work with wire and natural medium with their endless forms and textures. I use wire in connections with organic and man-made beads and stones for my jewelry and gift items.

Bending and twisting the wire in the process of making a unique piece is like an active meditation for me, a journey into to the unknown, that starts when I pick up my pliers and grasp the end of the wire and takes me to wherever my intuition leads.

My inspiration comes from everything around me in nature, it gives me the sense of being fully connected with and conscious of the world in which I live. Each piece transmits it energy and gives me the inspiration which is channeled from my head through my hands, into the metal as I create the piece.

My creations bring me such joy and strength and I hope that the people who buy my work will also find that joy and strength for themselves.
